Tribute to Dr Alison Wilkinson
We are deeply saddened to report that Dr Alison Wilkinson passed away on 10 February 2024, following a short illness. Alison was a hugely valued and much-loved colleague to all of us across the Federation, and we will miss her greatly.
Passionate about improving education, Alison was previously Deputy Headteacher of Queen Elizabeth School in Kirkby Lonsdale and then became founding Principal of QEStudio. Remarkably, during her tenure as Principal she also undertook her PhD in Educational Research. Following her retirement from QEStudio, Alison became our Strategic Lead, working tirelessly with our schools and their Headteachers to support collaboration and lead school improvement. Alongside this she was instrumental in the creation and development of the Morecambe Bay Curriculum, and worked closely with One Cumbria on the development of the Teaching School Hub.
Alison was fiercely intelligent and never stopped learning herself, always sharing her knowledge and wisdom with colleagues to effect positive change in their educational settings. She was an inspiration to many of us, a mentor who nurtured many careers, and a wonderful friend whose warmth and ready laugh will be sadly missed.
Outside work, Alison was a beloved wife, mum and grandma who was immensely proud of her family. Our thoughts are with them.
